Doodle Do's

When families are seeking a doodle to add to the family they often ponder which breed of doodle do the desire.....there are Aussiedoodles, Labradoodles, Goldendoodles, and Bernedoodles. We all know the doodles are a rapidly growing choice for family pets, I could not possibly include all the mixes I have seen. I would like to focus on the top four doodles on the market.

Picking the right dog for your family is to me, as important as picking the right school for your children. Do your research, how will your needs and the dogs needs mesh....what are your goals for a family pet......how much time do you have to devote to training. When you look at each breed in the mix, what are their traits, how do these traits fit with the Poodle traits?

Australian Sheppard's are bred to herd animals, it is in their DNA an they are great at this task. They will herd your chickens, your horses, cows and children it is what they have been bred for, for generations. Retrievers, both Labrador and Golden are sporting, hunting dogs. They have been cultivated for retrieving for their hunting masters, while not every retriever is an actual hunting dog, it is in their genes. All of these canines are great and each one has their strengths, puppies of these breeds tend to be more active and need more direction and something to occupy their time. Poodles themselves were originally developed as a hunting dog, their intelligence, their sporting body makeup and loyalty made them a perfect hunting companion..their curly coat was a bit of an impediment in the brush.

Bernese Mountain Dogs

The Bernese Mountain Dogs were bred as general farm dogs, without a specific innate task. They are primarily companion dogs who live and breathe to be with their families. They are fun, loyal, goofy best friends.

Adding the Berners traits with the intelligence and sporting body of the poodle, the combination brings out the very best of these breeds and gives you a puppy which is easy to train, easier to love and an amazing addition to any family.

Whatever breed you and your family decide on, time, attention and love are the biggest things they need from you, along with lots and lots of hugs and kisses!
